Grants are non-repayable funds disbursed or gifted by one party, often a government entity, foundation or trust, to a recipient, who is often (but not always) a nonprofit entity, educational institution, business or an individual. Typically, grants help fund ideas and projects that expand and grow small businesses, provide a valuable public service, or stimulate the economy. Although most small businesses finance their operations via more traditional methods, applying for (and being awarded) a grant can mean the difference between failure and success.
In 2017, two manufacturers in Holmes County received IMAGE Grant funds for domestic trade shows. Additionally, three forest products companies in southern Ohio utilized the SAOCDF (Tobacco) Grant funds to purchase new equipment for their facilities, adding 14 jobs cumulatively.
